The Snow Queen Ballet
This extraordinary tale by H.C. Andersen is one of the most complex and wonderful of his stories. It is written in seven parts,
with characters ranging from the two innocent children to demons, robbers to royalty, animal friends to snowflake warriors—
and a host of others—all against the backdrop of the influence of the formidable Snow Queen.
This array of movement styles supported by a tremendously varied emotional landscape made a ballet setting seem a choice well suited to exploring and highlighting the meanings in the story. As I often am dismayed at having to look at program notes to follow the events depicted in ballets, my score also calls for a narrator, whose words are woven into the fabric of the show.
The fully orchestrated score is planned to be completed by the end of 2024.

A Cricket’s Tale
This adaptation of the original Pinocchio story couldn’t be more timely.
Lying, entitlement, wanting the easy road, falling prey to suggestion, finger-pointing, playing the victim—
these themes from the story are some of the big issues of our era, felt by all generations, and part of what
is fueling the terrible division in our world. Pinocchio’s wish for freedom in tandem with a desire to help and
care for others sustains him until he wins over his weaknesses in the end—and becomes real.
It is set as a musical, with a twelve piece chamber orchestra supporting a very colorful cast of characters.
We’ve made a fully orchestrated concept recording of the entire show, and are now in the marketing phase.
